I began taking photographs with my parent’s Kodak Brownie camera in the mid -1950’s. While being detoured by normal careers, first teaching and then practicing law, I never lost the desire to create artistic images of the natural world. After retirement, I purchased a Canon 5D Mark II and attended the Rocky Mountain School of Photography as well as several ‘on location’ photo workshops. I enjoy sharing my images with others and often display them at central Indiana art and photography shows, most recently being recognized as Best of Show for Nature/Scenic images at the Anderson Museum of Art 2021 INFOCUS photography exhibit.
I live in a wooded landscape in Hamilton County that is designated as a certified wildlife habitat with my wife Tonekka where we share a love of nature and wildlife. I am currently in the middle of a multi-year project to photograph all of the wildflowers and much of the wildlife on our property. I am also a beekeeper at home and like to volunteer with the Central Indiana Land Trust.
I believe that the natural world provides us with spectacular sights from the micro to the macro and from the common to the exotic. Presenting the natural world through the unique perspectives of the photographic arts we can better understand and appreciate nature’s gifts that enrich our lives.
