MARIANNE DARLING BALLENGER

Marianne

Crawfordsville, IN
Central Chapter

As As a child, I had the opportunity to grow up on a property with woods and a creek. It started a life-long love affair with nature. I spent many hours exploring and observing the flora and fauna that lived there. To this day a favorite activity of mine is hiking in the woods. A few years ago, I took up kayaking and ultra-light backpacking. These activities increase the ways I can observe nature off the beaten path.

Art has always been a dominant part of my DNA and the two interests merged. I have created a lot of art with a nature theme. My career as a high school art teacher introduced me to many different art media – which opened up a lot of different ways to express ideas artistically. I primarily love doing sculpture, but still like to draw and paint as well as explore other media in creating my art.

When I am not hiking, traveling, volunteering or having fun with my grandchildren, I currently work from a studio located on my property.
