PAUL RAIMAN

ROANOKE, IN
NORTHERN Chapter

Paul was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The surrounding natural settings offered opportunities to develop an interest in photography. Even in grade school, he was immersed in black and white photography including film development and printing.
Studies at Kalamazoo College, Wayne State University School of Medicine, a surgical residency followed by fellowship training in Grand Rapids allowed Paul to establish himself in surgical practice in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When not involved with work and family, he continued to explore the changing world of photography, especially that of digital imaging.

BALD EAGLE

Category 3 PHOTOGRAPHY
24" X 28"
For Sale: $295.00

In 2012, a neurologic condition necessitated Paul to retire from surgical practice. Although a difficult scenario, this allowed for the intense study of photography. Outdoor photography has remained the mainstay of his work, especially wildlife and macro applications. Regarding his studio work, the unique lighting techniques implemented by Helmut Newton remain a challenge to master.
Paul has not received a formal degree in photography, relying on books, internet classes, and clubs to continue his education and critique his ever evolving work. The transition from the art of surgery to that of photography has been noteworthy. This was the subject of a publication in Fort Wayne Living Magazine (A Shift in Focus, Feb. 2016, pages 20-22).
