Upon retirement, I quickly returned to my lifelong passion-art. During my childhood of growing up in the country, it provided me many hours of enjoyment. And, today, as an adult, I still experience the same fun and joy from being able to create something that is uniquely mine.
I paint mostly in oils, acrylics and pastels. Today, I try to capture the beauty found in my community, from scenes of Sugar Creek, Shades State Park, local country roads, and still life subjects from our local Farmer's Market, where I demonstrate on a regular basis. I use traditional materials to capture a spontaneous dance and movement as they meet the canvas or paper.
When people view my work, they see vibrant colors used with traditional uncomplicated imagery. The viewers often put a smile on their faces and tell me that my work makes them feel happy. And that is what keeps me motivated to create.
